Today at Manaiakalani Mikayla, Naomi and I made fake news on WeVideo. I enjoyed it very much. We all worked together and I really like our video. I hope you like it to.😁

Career

 

For inquiry this term we are focusing on work and leisure. We had to pick what we wanted to be when we were older I picked a professional dancer. Hope you like it.

Post card

   

This is my post card. We had to take a photo of ourselves and remove the background. Then we had to find the photo of where we were going to  go and put ourselves into the scene. The tricky bit was what where I wanted to go I couldn't decide. I really like the part when we had to take our photos.

Endeavour

 

In the holidays a replica of the Endeavour came to Gisborne I wasn't there but people who went said it was pretty cool. The Endeavour was the famous Captain Cook's ship. We sketched the Endeavour 

and painted the sea in a special way so that it would look real. Hope you like mine.

Today at Manaiakalani I finished my polyline profile pic. We had to use little shapes to make our faces. I loved doing polyline because it is so fun.

Bridge challenge

Last week we did the bridge challenge and we came 3rd place!
I was so happy. We had to put a packet of butter on the top of our bridge and wait for 30 seconds. Next time we should use some more materials.

In reading we are learning about thick and thin questions. A thin question is when you can just search it up on google and get the answer straight away, but a thick question, you can't search it up so you have to inquire and do more research. So for reading we have put thick and thin questions and sustainability together and now we have to have two thick question about sustainability. I hoped you liked my learning.

One day I came to school and I was shocked at what I saw there was a big pile of rubbish outside the hall. So we made emojis to show how we felt about the rubbish and this was my emoji. I hope you like it.

Sustainability

This term in Inquiry we are learning about sustainability. We had to make a title page this is mine. I liked making my title page and I can't wait to learn more about sustainability 

Enviro Trip

   

Yesterday we walked from  school  to the  Botanical Gardens  for morning tea .  We also went to the HB Williams Memorial Library I loved reading all the cool books.After we walked from the library to the Enviro centre.We learnt how plastic is made and how we can help. My favourite part was the worm farm.

Dance Fit Show

Lights, camera, action! Well it didn't really start like that. It was a warm December evening and I arrived at the War Memorial theater for the Christmas concert. I walked into the dressing room and found a spot and started getting ready, a while later Tessa told us we were on in 5 minutes so everybody  quickly walked to the wings .

We watched the year 3s perform it wasn't a competition so we didn't have to worry. But even if it was a competition i assure you we would have won. Our dance was  amazing. I couldn't wait to perform.

Finally we got on stage and found our positions. The curtains opened and  I felt the lights beaming down at me, I could hear the crowd howl our names. The music wasn't starting but everybody still stayed in their position. We could hear the DJ apologizing as curtains closed and everybody lifted their heads and wondered what was going on. Anna sent us back to the side stage and told us our song wasn't working so we had to wait for the  year 8s to perform.

Finally we got to go on stage, and I have to say we were pretty good, when the music started.

If I were a tree during the fall season

In writing we had to write about what it would be like if we were trees in the fall season. I really enjoyed this piece of writing. ✏

Sunset silhouette

This is the sunset silhouette art we did with Mrs G. The reason we did this was because we were acknowledging the people that fought in wars. 🎨

Public vs Private

• WALT: To know what is public and what is private.
• My favourite part was finding out what we can put online.

• I learnt that there are some things you have to keep to your self and other things you can share.
• I found this learning easy because my parents had told me about what you cant put online.💻

Basic Facts

This is the learning pit. When you are at the top left you are entering the learning pit you would say stuff like 'i will give it a try.' When you are at the bottom of the learning pit you would say stuff like ' I've failed.' When you are at the top right you would say stuff like ' I can do it.'

Rip currents

Horohopu

                                         

In room 12 we have been learning how to          play horohopu. Basically you have to                  through a long poi around in a circle and          catch it by the string. It may sound simple but   it gets trickier, you have to touch your left leg with your right hand then clap the catch the poi. After you've mastered that you have to touch your left leg with your right hand, then your right leg with your left hand, clap then catch the poi.

                  

    

Modigliani

On Tuesday we had our first art class for the year with Mrs G. We made Modigliani self portraits. We had to draw long necks and eyes with no pupils because that is how Modigliani drew his portraits.      

2019

                        


The year has come, its the last year of school and the best so far. I wonder what we are going to do this year. My teacher is Mrs McVey she is very nice and funny. I am looking forward to this year. Here I come 2019!
